Find the Truth in You

Pendulums were used in ancient Egypt, Greece, China and Rome and regarded as an acceptable form of divination.  What fascinates me is the fact that throughout the centuries dowsing and the use of pendulums to answer questions and find lost articles, people, water, is still a thriving method of divination some 7,000 years later.

Using a pendulum saves time when you want a quick YES or NO answer. 

While I’ll be covering various methods of dowsing in future posts, the most crucial aspect of using a pendulum is to first find the truth in you.

You can fashion a perfectly acceptable pendulum out of a light pull chain approximately 8 – 12″and affix a heavy washer to the end of it.  A popular pendulum is to take a piece of thread and tie a needle, horizontally, to one end.  As long as the weight at the end of your string, (chain, cord, etc.) is kept taut you are set to begin.

Wrap the top 1 ½” of the string around your index finger and suspend the pendulum.  The only discipline needed is in keeping the pendulum from not moving or swaying when you begin.

Close your eyes.  Think of a truth that you know will evoke the YES answer and ask it out loud.  Some examples would be:

“Is my name ___________?”

“Am I female/male?”

 ”Is my favorite food ____________?”

Pay attention to how the correct answers feel in your solar plexus, your gut.  Say to your pendulum, “Show me my YES answer.”  Wait for the pendulum to move in the air then open your eyes to see what the exact motion is doing.

Bring your pendulum to a complete standstill before continuing.

Now close your eyes again and ask questions out loud that you know to be a lie and will evoke a NO answer.  For example:

“Do I have twelve fingers?”

“Did I rob a bank today?”

“Do I lie, cheat and steal?”

Make some lies up on your own.  Pay attention to how the incorrect answers feel within you. Say to your pendulum, “Show me my NO answer.”  Wait for the pendulum to move in the air, then open your eyes to see what the exact motion is doing.  The motion of your pendulum will be different than your YES response.

I’m hesitant to pre-suggest on the various movements of the pendulum because each individual has a different experience.  The YES and NO motions from your pendulum will be two distinct and different movements.

Once you’re comfortable using the pendulum go to your favorite eclectic gift shop and carefully select one that “speaks” to you, smudge it and keep it in a silk bag. 

You’ll notice my hand-crafted one of a kind pendulum all tricked out with sterling silver embellishments and quartz crystal point .  During my long reign as Queen nothing less would suffice.

Nancy’s New Moon Notes – November

You remember my dearest friend, Nancy, who has been my rock and guiding light for centuries (she knew me from the Zhou Dynasty) and who was the impetus for writing my post on Alpha-Awareness for Children?  Each month before the New Moon she sends her friends a quick email so we don’t forget our affirmations.  She said I could post it ……many thanks Nancy!!!!

To all my beloved turkeys out there … heads up for the new moon on Thanksgiving Day!   This will make for a busy (no kidding) and happy holiday!

The new moon is in Sagittarius — so wishes and affirmations for personal freedom, more adventure, and an optimistic outlook.  In addition, it will stir up emotions, intuition, philosophy, and ethical behavior.

With Pluto entering Capricorn “today” — we will see an attempt at cleaning up government, a more moral conduct in business, and more people listening to their consciences…

Uranus and Neptune both turned direct — giving us surprising and more intimate intuition.  Listen to that inner voice… this is a wonderful new moon for the holiday season ahead!  More energy abounds, a more giving heart ensues, and love for all mankind and all creatures of the earth is enhanced.

Enjoy this family holiday, with love, peace and with my heartfelt wishes that everyone is blessed beyond their expectations!  xo

P.S.  Do your affirmations!!!  The new moon is at 11:55 AM EST– so all day and night are great to put those wishes and thoughts out into the ether… dreams can come true…

Park It

What’s the most irritating thing about going shopping?  After culling out mall rats, not finding a salesperson, or tolerating annoying music that assaults your senses it has to be finding a parking space close to your destination!

Well be of good cheer, I am about to divulge the secret of getting the parking space of your dreams. 

When you are about five minutes from your destination imagine a parking space opening up right in front of the store.  Imagine the space freeing up as if it was your own “employee of the month” reward.  See it – visualize it – believe it.  Park it.

I’ve been doing this for forty years and it’s never failed.  There’s your Black Friday gift from me to you.  You’re welcome.

Bad Vibes in the Workplace

Transformational thinking occurs by efforts at home and in the workplace.  Think of how many hours you spend at your job.  You spend more hours on the job than at home.   I was rummaging around in my vast archives to find something to write about today and came across an article that was written in the January 1984 issue of Management Review.  It’s written by Arthur C. Beck and Ellis D. Hillmar.  This information is timeless and still appropriate for today’s manager, or any employee.  If you think about it, aren’t you your own manager?  You make a difference…empower yourself and by osmosis you will empower others.  Many of my readers work in an environment less than desirable, but now is not the time to throw up your hands and quit – it’s the time for self-examination and turning lemons into a Lemon Drop Martini to get you through these rough economic times.

The article is called What Managers Can do to Turn Around Negative Attitudes in an Organization. 

Thus I quote and paraphrase:

Negative Energy

Organizations experiencing negative energy frequently are faced with poor employee performance.  Great energy is expended on attacking individuals, avoidance, anger and punitive action at the expense of promoting exceptional positive performance.

Statements such as “Things will never change.” Or “You just can’t win,” indicate the level of despair associated with negative energy.  While the excitement of anger and hostility may be intense, it is counterproductive and fosters poor problem-solving efforts.  When people’s positive energies are absorbed or neutralized by these negatives, they are unable to engage in problem solving effectively.  Low trust levels prevail, and there is little risk taking.  Individuals do the minimum because it is safe and in keeping with the energy available to do the job.

Transforming Negative to Positive

Take 30 seconds to think about a negative experience that you have had where you felt very bad.  Re-experience those feelings.

Take another 30 seconds to reflect on a very pleasant experience that you have had.  Re-experience those feelings.

What did you find out?  You may have demonstrated that you can create your own feelings, both pleasant and unpleasant.  Know that you can refocus and change your unpleasant or negative feelings to positive feelings in less than a minute anytime you wish.  The attitudinal choice is yours. (Queen’s emphasis here.)

Managerial Transformation Techniques

Model positive behavior.  Expect a lot from people, support them, hold them accountable, confront them, and above all be clear and honest with them without damaging their self-esteem.  The positive orientation needs to permeate the organization and be articulate in its goals and concerns.

Acknowledge Negativity.  If negative energy is present, do not deny it, ignore it, or put people down with statements like, “you shouldn’t feel that way”, or “that’s a dumb way to look at things.”  Accept that condition as reality, look for the cause and develop strategies for transforming the negative energy into positive, i.e., “I understand how you feel.  What would you like to do about this problem?”  Get the negatives out into the open and then start listing the positives.

Give positive recognition often.  Providing positive recognition is probably the most significant strategy to establish and maintain positive energy.

Refrain from collusion on negativity.  Getting caught up in the “bitching” or “ain’t it awful!” conversations is easy to do. When faced with such conversations, refrain from collusion.  Strategies for dealing with negative conversations could be asking what can be done to improve the situation or ask what the positives are in the situation being discussed.

Refrain from using putdowns.  Negative words, and killer phrases, such as “we tried that years ago” and “we don’t do it that way here” need to be eliminated.

Be specific and clear:

  • Talk directly to an individual in a specific way instead of broadcasting to an undefined group
  • Say what you mean, speak in clear simple sentences
  • Avoid telling others what they should or should not do
  • Avoid exaggerating words such as everybody, nobody, always and never

The job of transforming an organization’s energy from negative to positive rests with both the individual manager and the organization.  While the transformation may take time, it will be quite beneficial.  Positive energy will enable people to rise to new levels of accomplishment and self-esteem.
