Nancy, our Resident Astrologer, has treated us with a HUGE bonus of material. The Year of the White Metal Tiger begins today! Thank you Nancy – of course I read my animal first to see what the upcoming months will bring – and as always, your insights fit exactly what I need to be focusing on…….
The Year of the Tiger begins on February 14, 2010, and it coincides with the New Moon in Aquarius. We know that Aquarius is concerned with humanity and global issues rather than individuals. Therefore in this Tiger year, there will be big changes for almost everyone. Cutting edge technology will be at the forefront of many of the new issues facing us. It will be difficult for those not comfortable with computers, cell phones, I-pods, and any of the myriad new “doo-dads” to compete or get ahead without knowledge of these areas. Make it your goal to learn as much as possible about what will be needed in your job, studies, and daily life to be successful.
Under the auspices of the Tiger there will be energy, excitement and volatility. In some ways there will be chaos – with military coups, social changes and political disharmony. This will be a year of change both worldwide and personally for many folks… However, it is said that a Tiger in the house protects against Fire, Thieves, and Evil Spirits. Tigers fill our lives with energy, passion, and commitment. Especially to their young, Tigers will face any danger, enemy, or situation with courage, bravery and strength.
Also we may encounter natural disasters that overwhelm cities, states and even countries with dire consequences. Tigers believe in speaking up against social imbalance, and will enter into any political upheaval that may be brewing. Beware the ire of the Tiger, politicians and any government officials may be on the Tiger’s radar screen, and if they are not performing honestly and fairly – they will be pursued and taken out of power. The Tiger will not put up with dishonesty or falsehoods lightly, they will use their intelligence and stealth to wipe out those who would misuse and abuse their power.
On the bright side, the Tiger year will bring drama, excitement, the possibility of dreams coming true, and energy to follow through to your goals. Remember only you are the master of your being – only you have the power to change your course to a positive and successful life. The Tiger likes to spend freely – so be aware of leaping into debt without realizing what the consequences will be. Indeed, a good rule of thumb in a Tiger year is to “Look” before you “Leap” — be prepared, and be aware of opportunities that will come quickly, but might not last long. You must be ready to grasp those offerings by preparing yourself ahead of time, in your workplace, home, or school. This can be a wonderful year for adventure, romance, and prosperity. But all things are not equal during this Tiger year, and we will give a few hints as to how each Chinese Zodiac sign will fare during the fast-paced and interesting year ahead. The possibility exists for positive change and for adventurous and exciting travel.
Here is some insight for each of the 12 Chinese Zodiac Animals:
RAT – First the Rat must be aware that this is a fast-paced year which might make them a bit uneasy. Still there are opportunities for them to travel, find new jobs and perhaps find romance. They should not take unnecessary risks, but be aware of ways to enhance their personal savings. The autumn months might be best for single Rats to find their soul-mates. Beware of discord in the family, hurt feelings may result from a mistimed criticism. Do not try to go against the current, but look for opportunity around each corner, your cleverness will find a way to thrive this year.
OX – The Ox might find this too much of a changeable year and they should expect the unexpected. This will not make the Ox happy, but if he faces the challenges with his usual stoic and stable manner, he will prevail. The Ox must learn to adapt to the vagaries of altered routines, and perhaps delays to his careful planning. The Ox might find new work through friends, and if romantically inclined the hot summer months provide ample opportunity to meet that special someone. The Holiday season and New Year’s celebrations also may bring new romantic interests through family.
TIGER – The Tiger will have good fortune, energy to spare, protection, and will enjoy all of the activity this year will bring. After the difficulties and upsets of last year – renewed hope and a positive outlook will do much to keep the Tiger busy and happy. There will be job opportunities, and his financial situation should improve greatly. However, the Tiger should adapt the “Look before you Leap” philosophy. The Tiger should let his light shine through, and he might find that a friendship has suddenly blossomed into a true romance. Socially the Tiger will be the center of attention and will enjoy all that this year has to offer.
RABBIT — The Rabbit will find that his outlook for job improvement, perhaps in the form of a promotion will likely come this year. However, he should try not to get too exhausted in trying to keep up with all of the busyness that is going on. Some Rabbits might be in the market for a new place to live and there are going to be lots of opportunities for them to find their dream space. There will be much socializing for the Rabbit this year and he might find a compatible partner through a work sponsored event. This is a good year for the Rabbit to lay down his goals and plans for next year, which will be the Year of the Rabbit, and then he will be in his own comfort zone.
DRAGON – The Dragon will love the fast-pace of this year, and they will eagerly plunge into the fray with wings flapping and fire shooting from their mouths… To get the most from this year’s bounty, they should become team players (not always easy for a Dragon), and work to make themselves known to the upper echelon. They should avoid spending just to make themselves feel good. Even though money should be coming in with ease, it will be better if they monitor their finances carefully. It also would be a good year for them to learn some new skill, that will enhance their work, or they might take up a new hobby that will give them much pleasure. It is here they might find a companion that will enhance their life and bring them closer to their families.
SNAKE – Snakes are intelligent and intuitive, and also very attractive to the opposite sex. The Year of the Tiger will feel out of control to them and the way they will survive is to keep a low profile, and stay calm. Money must be managed with care, and there will be no need to worry. Working with cohorts will help the Snake get ahead slowly and surely throughout the year. Family and friends will be his mainstay, and the more time he spends with them, the more grounded and assured he will become. There may be an opportunity to travel, and the Snake should look into any offer that comes his way. The Snakes social life should pick up this year and if looking, romance will find him.
HORSE – The Year of the Tiger will be an exciting and energized year ahead. There will be changes to contend with, perhaps family issues that require sharing quarters or, help may be needed to move to a new location. Your career should be on the right track, and money should follow. But this isn’t an invitation to spend unwisely, indeed beware of getting into debt. Socially, the Horse will receive many invitations to weddings, parties, and family gatherings, which they should accept if at all possible. Because the Horse is high-spirited, they must consider taking care of their health and get enough rest. The lively gatherings will bring much needed enjoyment, and maybe even a new love interest.
GOAT – The Goat likes things to be calm and balanced, so this year will bring some challenges to their ordered lifestyle. It will be a great time for them to find new talents and new ways of facing their worries. If they but take a chance on learning a new skill or revive an old talent, they will reap great rewards by the end of the year. This isn’t a year to take financial risks, and if they find themselves in a difficult situation, it will behoove them to seek professional help to ferry them through deep financial waters. Sharing time with family will be comforting and relaxing for the Goat, and a benefit might be that a friend of a friend will find them fascinating.
MONKEY – The Monkey with energy to spare will be able to enjoy the fast-paced Year of the Tiger. However, things might get a bit too hectic even for him… The wise Monkey will take his time and not get too caught up in the excitement that will surround him. Also, he should take the time to plan his finances in case of any unexpected expenses that may come along. There will be pressure on the Monkey and it might make him a bit edgy and angst-ridden, but the Monkeys quick wits and quirky sense of humor will see him through any downturns. Indeed, with a little planning he will sail through with his sensibilities intact. Although a bit vain, the Monkey is looking for romance, and with a little luck will find what he has been searching for this year.
ROOSTER – The Rooster faces a mixed bag in the Year of the Tiger, but with the help and loyalty of his family, he will prevail. First the Rooster must become more observant, steady and adaptable. If he can do these things he will be a wiser and wealthier Rooster at year’s end. The Rooster loves adventure, and may be planning to travel this coming year, and if looking, romance may be in the picture. The Rooster’s home will be his special place to renew and recover from all of his activities. He will be sought out for his wise counsel by many of his friends and his advice will be attuned to the situation at hand.
DOG – The Year of the Tiger is very compatible for the Dog, he should find his finances improving and many of last year’s problems will be left in the dust. Last year may have been a challenging one for the Dog in health areas, and with job difficulties. Since the Dog is a worrier, they may need to talk about their fears and anxieties before they can feel fully ready to take advantage of what the Tiger Year has to offer them. Loyal to a fault, he will find his family and friends ready to listen, give advice or help in any way that will help the Dog make his way through this changeable year. It will be a good year for the Dog to take stock of where he is and where he wants to go – he will be able to form new friendships and connections this year. And, he might even find that a hobby or avocation has the potential to turn into a money-making proposition. The Dog must be open to new opportunities and aware of all of his talents.
PIG – The Pig is a sweet and lovable creature, and the Year of the Tiger will present him with opportunities and a few challenges. The Pigs friendly (perhaps naïve) personality might make him a target for a conniving person, so he must be on the alert for those who do not have his best interests at heart. There will be excellent social occasions where he might meet folks of like mind and spirit. It is here he will shine and be appreciated. Financially he must be on guard for false friends who would bilk him of his hard earned money. Be forewarned, there are those who are only out for themselves. Generally speaking, the Pig has good friends who will stand by him and help him through any difficult times. The Pig might want to seek out new spiritual avenues and become more self-aware, and more in tune with his inner being. Now is the time!
OCCIDENTAL MEETS ORIENTAL
If you were born in the Year of the Tiger here are a few lines about Western Zodiac signs combined with the Chinese sign of the Tiger:
ARIES TIGER – Talk about a whirlwind of activity – it is hard to keep up with these busy and engaging people. They like to be on the move, sitting in a cubicle is not their idea of fun. Passionate, exhausting and fair, they are good friends and formidable foes.
TAUREAN TIGER – Earthy, lovable and hearty describes these folks. They are work oriented and will finish any task (perhaps slowly) but undoubtedly. Loyal to their loved ones, they will keep the relationship stable and on a steady path. Watch out for their sweet tooth – they will pounce upon any goodies they espy.
GEMINI TIGER – Restless, intelligent and with a good sense of humor, these Tigers will want to travel, be in the center of the activity and will flirt with anyone who catches their eye. It’s all in good fun, this Tiger might be hard to pin down – but with their quirky style, all will be forgiven.
CANCERIAN TIGER – Sensitive, caring, kind – they need a loyal and loving partner to protect their tender feelings. But don’t think they won’t defend themselves – many a roué has had his head handed to him in no uncertain terms. Of course, this Tiger may dissolve into tears with sadness or joy.
LEONINE TIGER – Here we have the two “kings” of the jungle in one imposing package. They command respect from one and all. They are generous to all those they love and care for, but never belittle this Tiger – those barbs will never be forgotten. Loyal, royal, and wild – they reign supreme.
VIRGO TIGER – The most particular Tiger – sees every flaw, and can be a bit nitpicky. Enjoys being in charge, takes pains to keep a neat house and mind. This Tiger can be a wonderful employee – if given free reign. Pick up after yourself, and all will be well in the den of this Tiger. If you are his chosen mate, you’ve already passed the biggest test.
LIBRAN TIGER – Always fair and just, this Tiger would be great on a jury. This Tiger’s difficulty comes in making personal decisions. They can dither about because they see both sides of an issue. It helps if their family or friends are more direct and motivated.
SCORPIO TIGER – Power and intensity qualify this Tiger for your attention. Passionate and strong willed, they will have their way. Only their sensitivity prevents them from being too overbearing – they care what others think of them.
SAGITTARIAN TIGER – Enthusiastic and with an effervescent love of life, this Tiger will be wherever there is activity and fun. Outgoing and fervent, they don’t merely sip the waters of life, they immerse themselves into it with élan. Joyful, funny, loving – they are a wonder to behold.
CAPRICORN TIGER – These Tigers are the competent, hard-working core of the community that we all depend upon. Their careers are of utmost importance to them and much of the rest of their lives take second place. Although loyal, their mates must fend for themselves and be independent in their own right. They are excellent providers.
AQUARIAN TIGERS – This combination can become the rebellious Tiger – going their own way over any objections. They can be in love with love, but – the emotion doesn’t always relate to the individual they are involved with. They love humanity but find it difficult to love just one other human being. Friendships are another story – they are loyal and steady in their support of their friends.
PISCES TIGER – Quieter and more sensitive than most Tigers, they appear reserved and patient. Inside they may seethe with passion, but only for their intimates. They are stronger than they appear and can reach any goal they go after, especially if that goal is a love connection.
May you all enjoy this Year of the Tiger – Purring, snarling, leaping, growling – it will be a year of change – hang on – it could be the ride of a lifetime!
