Hi — I have been remiss in keeping up with the changing etherscape of the stars and planets.  And there is a flurry of new activity to be aware of, that will have an impact on all of us.

SATURN ENTERED LIBRA ON JULY 21ST

I especially want to give everyone a heads up on the planetary teacher SATURN — which has moved from Virgo into Libra for an approximate 2 1/2 year stay. Saturn is kind of the hour hand of the Zodiac — moving through each quadrant of the circle in a little over 7 years — making it come full circle in 30 years — We will have experienced Saturn in all of the signs by the time we reach our 30th birthday, hence the Hippies warning not to trust anyone over 30! Indeed, we are (or should be changed) by experiencing Saturn in every degree and sign in our chart. There are always lessons to be learned, and growth to be experienced, and Saturn is the one who leads us on our pathway.

If we do not learn the intended lessons, we will be in for an immediate wake-up call by having to endure some sort of difficulty, that will insure our becoming aware of what it is we need to do. However, if we are listening to Saturn’s instructions, there will be rewarding experiences, and a feeling of moving in the right direction.

Saturn rules the sign Capricorn, (and co-rules Aquarius) — it is the planet of patience, old age, endurance, and on the mundane level, workers like plumbers, landscape architects, farmers, gardeners, realtors, leather workers, and those who tend to the elders of the tribe. Saturn is serious, steady, a no-nonsense patron of education of the highest order, and has rulership over our bones, teeth, knees and sense of hearing.

In Libra Saturn is less sure of his ground and isn’t very happy in an air sign that needs to constantly be trying to attain balance (although for Saturn — true balance is a good thing). This just isn’t a happy combo on so many levels — yet if you have passed your 30th year, you have experienced this transit before. Just look back at 30 years ago to remember what was occurring in your life — there will be different aspects from the other planets — yet Saturn will be going through the same area of the Zodiac that it did 30 years ago… Saturn might bring restrictions to that area, opportunities, extra work or responsibilities — it also may bring a health issue depending on what planets it might be in opposition to, and in what house it appears in your personal chart. Yes, some of the “lessons” it brings might be onerous and long-lasting, but here is where you will be learning a karmic truth, about yourself, or of others who are close to you.

You can run, but you cannot hide from Saturn’s impact in your life — it is so much better to face the truth of whatever the situation is and correct it, deal with it, improve upon it. Saturn’s rewards are some of the greatest and best we can expect throughout our lifetime. Dealing with distress, sadness, unfairness, ugliness, responsibility, hard work, hours of study, menial tasks, necessary caregiving, illness, unnecessary anger, rebuke, unkindness — with a sense of self, a sense of caring, a sense of responsibility — will in the end give us our personal rewards, and our karmic payback, with joy and freedom. Meet Saturn’s challenges with élan, love, and genuine feeling, and you will be rewarded.

Now — how will this impact me? The only way I can give everyone a sense of how Saturn might manifest in your own life is to go around the Zodiac, house by house and hope you realize that if Saturn is in opposition to any of your Aries planets this will be a meaningful transit for you. Also if Saturn will be in negative aspect to any of your planets in the other Cardinal signs Capricorn and Cancer, the issues it brings up will have to be addressed. My rule of thumb during any Saturn transit is to look to those who are being impacted the most i.e., Librans, and offer to take them to lunch — it is sure to be appreciated and might just alleviate some of the pressure they might find in their lives at this time.

Saturn in Libra in the 1st house:

If you have a Libra ascendant, Saturn will be up front and personal for you during its transit — since the first house rules our own wishes and needs, you may find some kind of hindrance in attaining just what you want, and it may throw you completely off balance. And if you have any planets opposite in the 7th house in Aries, your partnerships may be under fire — whether business or personal, you will have to be aware that any unresolved issues must be faced and corrected in a fair and impartial manner. Keep a cool head and don’t react to any negativity thrust at you that isn’t deserved — deflect those who would blame you for their own omissions, and take the high road in clearing the air and setting the record straight. On a positive note — you could find that a dream of yours has indeed come true, perhaps a new home, a clean bill of health, or that college degree or wedding, is about to become a reality.

Saturn in Libra in the 2nd house:

This is a very important transit for those with Saturn going through their 2nd house which rules our money — there may be restrictions with your income, or perhaps you have become overloaded with credit card debt, you are experiencing difficulty in paying your bills, or have had a sudden drop in monies that were due to you, that are not being paid in a timely manner. You are in great need of a balanced checkbook during these times. Also look to your 8th house of other peoples money and if there is a planet residing there it will be under duress too — depending on the planet, there could be an extra amount of outgo that cannot be ignored. On the bright side of Saturn’s rings, you could be in for an inheritance — or a new opportunity might open that will bring you some income from a hobby or skill you possess, that until now you haven’t shared openly. Be aware of all that is going on around you and if you sense there is a new outlet for you to bring in some extra cash — go for the gold!

Saturn in Libra in the 3rd house:

Saturn in this area brings our dearest and closest friends and relatives into the action, indeed if there is something going on in your family, or neighborhood that requires some time or interest from you — please pay attention. It could be an elderly neighbor who needs a daily call, or your closest kin might need you to help out in a caretaking role. It could also be that there is some kind of construction around you that is annoying, and requires you to go a different route than your usual way that takes longer, or there is a delay in certain areas you were hoping would be resolved by now. Since Saturn will be opposite your 9th house, any planets that lie therein will also be affected — so a delay in educational goals, a longed for travel plan, or some spiritual crisis may rear its head. The reward side of the equation could be that you will be able to visit relatives from afar that you haven’t seen in years or visa versa, they will visit you… or your college loan or scholarship is approved and it is much better than you could have hoped. There will be some kind of balance achieved during this transit that will have long term advantages.

Saturn in Libra in the 4th house:

Here we are dealing with our foundations, our home, our upbringing and where we learned the tenets of our moral grounding. When Saturn crosses our 4th house cusp, we often have the urge to move to a new location, or we are forced to do so. We may also find that a parent needs extra help either healthwise or financially for an extended period. Since this house is opposite our 10th house of social standing and our work area — there could be delays or restrictions in our moving up into a new level of management, or it is proving to be much more difficult to maintain our jobs without adding new aspects to it that are going to be time consuming and tedious. As the corporate world reshuffles to bring itself into alignment with the new streamlined economy, many of us are finding our positions changing and not always for the better, thus upsetting the status quo and keeping us off balance. Any planet in this area will give you a hint as to what the experience might be — keep your nose to the grindstone, and you will withstand this assault on your abilities and patience. Now you might just find your dream home under this aspect, and/or your business acumen could soar and you find yourself in the upper echelons of your company like magic. If you have paid attention to Saturn — you will succeed and be rewarded.

Saturn in Libra in the 5th house:

Aha you are saying, the 5th house of romance, children and speculation — why I could win the lottery — well I guess there is that chance in several million — I could meet my soulmate –yea, but there may be some problems that come with that package –or this is the year we will get pregnant — maybe, but don’t count on it… It is great to speculate on all of the rewards we might be due — Saturn is generous to a fault if something is deserved. But let’s face it — most of our lives are quite ordinary, with the occasional extraordinary occurrence — this might be your time — or not, life has a quirky way of balancing out the positive and the negative. Perhaps it will manifest in some creative form and will bring you a sense of satisfaction. This placement of Saturn is opposite our 11th house of hopes and wishes, and friends. Any planet residing here will be stimulated and bring some slewing of the energy that is affecting the 5th house. You might find that your soulmate is an old friend — you just hadn’t thought of them “that” way before. Perhaps a friend will have an attractive business offer for you — or maybe attending a wedding of a friend will bring that one special someone into your life. Be aware, be open, and be willing to go that extra mile when you know it is the right thing to do.

Saturn in Libra in the 6th house:

Our 6th house rules our everyday health, small pets, the health field in general, and service to others. With Saturnine energy here, we are suddenly aware of our “being”. What are we doing to enhance our health, or on the other hand — what the heck are we doing that is lessening our natural immunities? Are you still smoking? Eating badly? Not getting enough exercise? Letting stress and anxiety fill your life? Being angry and upset all of the time, have no balance in your life? Well — STOP — right now! Saturn can help you find the right way to enhance your well-being and can help you quit your bad habits. Saturn has the strength to give you a long-term plan of action that will be perfect for you to follow. Go with the flow of the Saturn energy and improve your life for the better — you can also help your pets with any issues they may have — especially older pets with bone or eye issues — look for new methods of medical care and you can improve their later years. Since this house is opposite the 12th house which is the house of self-undoing and hidden enemies, any planets here will have an impact on your eventual success in turning around your health issues. You must work with what you have — bring all of your energy to the fore and realize that good health is your greatest asset. With Saturn’s help here in the 6th — you could find yourself in the best shape of your life.

Saturn in Libra in the 7th house:

The 7th house has reign over partnerships, both business and personal — this is the time to be aware of any fractious feelings that might exist. You might find your marriage or business partner is more aloof lately, or is being somewhat less than open about his/her feelings, or is keeping some distance from you. There could be so many reasons that this is so — it could just be fatigue from more responsibilities at work, to health issues that they are ignoring. Or there could be some more serious issues that have to be brought out into the open, and discussed without rancor or accusatory innuendo. Have both of you been under more pressure lately, taking more of your time away from the relationship? Communication is key here, especially at this time of economic stress, and an unstable job outlook. We all have some anxiety about what the future will bring, but if you are in a relationship that is being tested (and Saturn will indeed be testing), you must talk about what is bothering you. If necessary get professional help to get you through this period, and to bring some balance into your life. This house is opposite the 1st house of hope and dreams and ego — try to keep a level head, and a quiet but strong persona while you uncover whatever secrets or angst is affecting your relationship. With the help of Saturn you can uncover the underlying problems, and restore your partnership with more respect, love and caring that will last for a very long time to come.

Saturn in Libra in the 8th house:

So many folks are wary of the 8th house because it has rulership over death, regeneration, other peoples money, and many of the mysterious, not well-understood areas of our deepest selves. Saturn is quite comfortable here in the 8th house, there is a symbiotic meeting of the minds between this house and Saturn’s efforts to get us to a higher level of evolution — to have no fear or anxiety about our lives and futures, to achieve a balance that works. Whatever you believe, Saturn is here to validate your experiences, and give you a long term outlook that will serve you well. We often think of Saturn as an aggravating thorn in our sides, that makes us ornery and keeps us on edge by making us aware of our shortcomings. And yet, Saturn will, if allowed — bring us the best that is humanly possible. With Saturn’s help we can and will successfully traverse this world and the next. Opposite the 8th house is the 2nd — our income, our beloved personal belongings, our savings, and we might find challenges in this area — especially if there is a planet situated here. This will be the time to conserve our holdings, work hard, and protect those in our care, and any treasures from the past. We could have a spiritual renewal while Saturn is in residence in the 8th house, but whatever it brings, you will have the strength to persevere and overcome the challenges.

Saturn in Libra in the 9th house:

Ah the joys of education, travel, and religion — all rolled into a package of 9th house opportunity — Saturn will make us aware of where we should put forth our greatest efforts. Or on the other hand it might delay that long planned journey, whether to the college of your choice, or that trip of a lifetime. Saturn will bring some challenges in these areas, and will make it quite apparent where we must put our energy. Have you really prepared yourself for what lies ahead — are you ready for the change that leaving for a far off college will bring? Are you sure that this longed-for trip is being planned at the appropriate time? Are you finding roadblocks in your path that are making you rethink your goals? Saturn will bring common sense to whatever you are planning to do for the next few years. Perhaps putting off college for a year or so will make sense to you — working to help defray the costs of education today. The trip you so desire might look a lot better in a couple of years when the kids will be older and better able to appreciate the journey. Whatever you decide, Saturn will be there to help you better understand your motivation and abilities. There also might be a new interest in your own or another religion — you may be intrigued by the faith someone you just met follows. This could be the time to pursue any interest you might have in studying or just refreshing your knowledge in all things spiritual. Opposite the 3rd house you may go far from your roots in discovering a new inspirational path. Or you could find just what you want from your old neighborhood church. Be open and be ready to be amazed at the depth of your experiences in this area.

Saturn in Libra in the 10th house:

Social standing, workplace, career, all are represented here — and here is Saturn’s natural home. We all know that to be successful we must work hard (Capricorn) and keep up with the times (Aquarius). Especially today, with technology advancing at lightning speed, we have to be aware that our knowledge is always being tested. Since Saturn is the co-ruler of Aquarius, we can see that Saturn can be beneficial in keeping us up with the latest and greatest of gadgets. Aquarians love the newest of technologies and can’t wait to get their hands on the best that is offered. Use the innovative persistence of Saturn to get you up and running with the most skilled of your “nerdy” co-workers. Leave behind the wishful thinking of the past and get with the program, today’s best employees must be tech savvy. Take that course, learn that new system and be competitive in the best sense of the word. The opposition to any planets in your 4th house could bring a conflict between home and work priorities. You may have to walk a fine line in serving two masters — and you will have to work smarter and faster to reach your goals. The saving grace may be that you will be able to do some work from home and hence be literally in two places at once. Balance will be of utmost importance — as will being flexible and willing to take on new areas that might be uncomfortable for you initially. There will be opportunity to climb the ladder of success — just make sure you are on a firm foundation.

Saturn in Libra in the 11th house:

Everyone loves the house of friends and acquaintances, future hopes and dreams. In this house Saturn will bring a splash of cold water on any relationships that are not in your best interest. It will bring a reality to what your long term dreams should be, not what you think they should be. Saturn brings a clarity to you about those people who have been in your life for a long time, and allows you to see just where they fit into your life now! There are some relationships that go on for years, yet they are not fulfilling in any sense — and though you may be used to them, you might want to rethink just how much time you actually spend with them. And as for those dreams you want to follow, Saturn might shine a light on why you haven’t yet moved forward with your plans. Sit down and make a new list — what you truly want to accomplish, who you truly want in your life, and start anew to build toward what it is you want in the here and now… This isn’t the making of a bucket list, just a review to keep you on track and to release those who may not sincerely be a part of your future. Since this house is opposed to the 5th house, there might be some issues with loved ones about children — and also, there might be some confusion about an older pet whose welfare you may be inclined to take on. After this transit you should have a clearer, more balanced picture of where you are going and who you want to take along.

Saturn in Libra in the 12th house:

Self-undoing, that is what we face here — not always the easiest thing to do — but a sometimes necessary task to keep us on our true pathway. Where are we letting ourselves down? Is it in our minds where we hear a constant rhetoric about our failures — all self imposed? We must clear out all of the negative comments we are carrying around from years past. We have to replace the criticisms of others, with the reality of who we are now in the present. We all have, with the help of Saturn grown each year — we have become more our true selves and we cannot allow ourselves to wallow in a miasma of self doubt or pity. There are here also hidden enemies — these are not necessarily actual people, but ideas or harsh memories from our childhood or from a particularly difficult time we had to go through that made us feel less about ourselves. Break out of this unfriendly place and reach for the person you are today — stronger, smarter and with a maturity that can overcome any trespass that was ever done to you. Saturn can help — use this strength to free your psyche of any leftover harm. The opposite house is the 6th house of health — many of your health issues can be directly caused by not addressing your own self-limiting behavior. Become your best self — move on to a new and better balance in your life. Be the you, that YOU know you can be.

The Planet Saturn is teacher, mystic, psyche, friend, parent, facilitator, factotum, helper, critic, and so much more — we must learn to listen to the lessons it brings. We must learn to work with, and not against its magnificent power. We will be taught, it behooves us to be ready to accept what Saturn is offering. Life will be better, more balanced, and more in harmony with the Universe whilst Saturn takes its turn in beautiful Libra.

This month’s New Moon, on July 11, 2010 in the sign Cancer, ushers in a total solar eclipse — so we can expect more intensity and longer lasting effects from this Cancer Moon placement.

Cancer is a Cardinal water sign, and with the power of this most plentiful element on Earth, we must appreciate its intensity and passion. We associate the sign Cancer with the Mother essence and the nurturing qualities that image brings forth. Yet, many feel that Cancer is full of angst, has passive/aggressive tendencies and becomes moody when thwarted. Well, water signs are emotional, and often over the top when challenged or upset. Still, our Cancerian brothers and sisters will be there for us with a loyalty and caring that few other signs can match. One often finds a close attachment to Mom, and or the home. Once we thought of Cancer folks as kind of a Betty Crocker homemaker whose only joy was to keep home and hearth together. Male or female they do have an intense loyalty to their family and will go to the limits of their endurance to ensure all is well within their homesteads. Yet they hold so much more for us — they can take on any challenge and succeed, become a CEO or head of industry, and can be found in such various fields as banking, medicine, the law, and of course anything to do with the home and all of its intricacies.

There is much more to our Cancer brethren than their need for the stability of a warm and nurturing home life. The sign Cancer does rule domestic affairs, but also short journeys, many water activities (swimming, boating, fishing) — and physically rules the stomach and brain matter — hence when there is any emotional crisis, the Cancerian often has a stomach upset. Indeed, they are so mind/emotion connected that it is difficult for them to separate their emotions from their physical being. It would behoove Cancer folks to consciously be introspective when faced with any stressful situation, and try to separate the ongoing activity from their physical well-being. You might find that when under stress, these Moon ruled people will often lose their appetites and will become more physically burdened because of poor nutrition — on the other side of the coin — there will be those who will turn to food whenever life seems to be out of their control, and here we might find the round, soft bodied comfortable friend or relative we can always count on. Remember, like the symbol for Cancer, the crab — it does have a soft interior — but the outside is hard and crusty and armed with pinching claws, so what you see is not necessarily what you will get.

When discussing our Cancerian friends or relatives we might often hear, “I just can’t pin them down — they become so moody when things aren’t going well, they’re so unpredictable and change like the wind.” All are correct in some instances, but when in need of a friend who will listen to us and sincerely feel our pain — yup — your Cancer friend will be the one you go to for comfort — and you will probably get stellar emotional support, a cup of tea and homemade cookies, round like the moon.

Now on to the aspects that will affect us this coming lunar month,there have been some major planetary changes in the works — with Uranus and Jupiter temporarily going into the sign Aries (not so compatible with Cancer), these planets will both soon Retrograde, but we have been given a hint about our future endeavors. Both of these planets are now in a negative aspect to the planet Pluto in Capricorn — OK — what does that have to do with our lives — we are now being given a “preview” if you will, of the next few years — Jupiter stays in one sign for approximately one year — however, Uranus will be ensconced in Aries for the next seven years — yes Aries, excitement and change are coming your way — now is the time to prepare yourselves and set things going in the direction that you want. Now — we have a reprieve, these two dynamos will return to their previous sign Pisces until late fall so we can digest what has been going on the last few months and perhaps redirect our goals, ideas or wishes to be able to fulfill our deepest desires. We must pay attention to what is going on around us including the folks that are in our lives. Are we being supported and moving forward to our goals, or are we being thwarted and held hostage to old ideas and routines? Cancerians often hold on to old ideas, and old ways of doing things long past the time that they still work. Wresting them from old habits can be onerous, but once they embrace a new way of doing things, they wholeheartedly move onward.

The New Moon in Cancer is at 19 degrees and manifests at 2:41 EST (add one hour for DST) — on the 11th of the month. Those born around the 10th to 13th of July will be in a new cycle — this is the time to fish or cut bait, in instigating new goals, jobs, or any creative endeavor you have been contemplating. Give yourself permission to go forward with your highest ideals and plans — you can manifest your dreams.

All of us also have the opportunity to put forth our affirmations and ideas into the ether — we should all write out our deepest desires, in specific words that describe every element of what it is we wish to happen, and send these hopes and wishes into the elemental Universal essence. They will become reality if we just keep ourselves positive and forward-looking. The power is in the stars as they impel us to our goals — and the immense power of the watery sign Cancer can help us to push ahead and make our dreams a reality. Your future is in your hands — use this Universal energy to get to your goals. Feel the passion of your desires well up inside of you as you are writing your affirmations, concentrate on the depth of your emotion as you describe what you truly want, this is your life, your future, make it the best that you can!

Friends of mine generously arranged a fund raising dinner for me to help defray medical costs not covered by insurance, and the date of that dinner is June 26th.  They have gathered donations, arranged the place and caterer, created a website, sent mailings and even put Friends of Jone on Facebook, all the while juggling full time jobs and battling their own challenges.  The significance of the transiting eclipse  as it conjuncts my natal Saturn in the tenth house is this:  the tenth house connectivity is associated with career, judgements, recognition.  So after devoting my life to healing services, I am being humbly rewarded with people who have been positively impacted by my work in some way.  In other words they “see” me.

This dinner has been such an emotional opening of my heart because in no way have I or did I ever expect friends from my past to jump forward and plan this for me, because they “wanted to”, and just wanted me to say “yes”.  I’ve said this before, it’s not cancer that will end my life – it will be my heart bursting from the love and prayers that have washed over and through me from family, friends and complete strangers.  As I get stronger I am constantly reminded of what this cancer is teaching me – to change my patterns and to face fears head on, look it in the eye, and do NOT revert to past behaviors based on weakness or false bravado.

So thanks to our resident Astrologer, Nancy, as she continues to keep me on my path – and stay in my lane.  Hope you are staying in your lane as well readers!  Your support has been without boundaries and I’m feeling the love each and every day….you are a major part of my inspiration to self-enlightnment.  Astrology has been such a guiding tool for me as well – Nancy I love you!

The Full Moon energy will be starting tomorrow — it’s always the strongest before the actual time occurs…. the Full Moon is on Saturday and it will conjunct Pluto–and I want you to be aware of the massive energy of this full moon — keep yourself aware of angry folks, irritable drivers and sudden unexpected incidences that might impact your life… Stay as cool, calm, and collected as you can — this won’t apply to each and every one — but there is a lot of explosive energy in the air that may become an issue. So forewarned is forearmed… keep above the fray!

On another note this month, there is a lunar eclipse in early Capricorn on the 26th – this is quite a powerful aspect because the Moon is engaged with Pluto our potent little giant. The ramifications of this eclipse will last for the rest of the year and will bring us the ability to empower ourselves. What we must be aware of is not to use this power against others – to demean or take away anyone else’s sense of being. Indeed, beware of trying to overpower others in a negative or irate manner. If you follow this path you will find yourself abruptly taken aback in a most unhappy way. Use this energy to become more aware of your power in a positive and useful approach to dealing with others. If you take the high path in taming this unique energy, you will find yourself in a healthier and more stable relationship with family and co-workers. Respect for yourself and others is the lesson here – do not under any circumstances be swayed by a momentary desire to put down any other human being. Rise to your greatest heights as a being of light and energy, and you will be on the pathway you are intended to follow in this lifetime.

June’s New Moon occurs on the 12th at 6:16 AM EST in the sprightly sign of Gemini at 21 degrees. This airy, intellectual sign of the Twins gets us ready to enjoy our summer months with enthusiasm and curiosity. Those Gemini folks in our lives are stimulating, busy, perhaps a bit flighty, but always engaging and fun to be with. They bring a spark of the child within, a trait that they never seem to lose no matter their age. They are always looking forward to their next adventure – be it a trip to the grocery store, or an around the world cruise. Their enthusiasm is rivaled only by their opposite sign Sagittarius – they love every facet of life and try to live it to the full. Gemini also rules the appendages, and you may find that injuries to the hands, arms or legs might be quite common especially in childhood. There are few of this sign who haven’t got a scraped knee or scar on their hands from some escapade that ended with a slight injury. Also, they may have beautifully expressive and exquisite hands, and they often move with exceeding grace.

Gemini rules our closest kin – brothers and sisters – our neighborhood, and also reigns over all things intellectual. They love to read, are good correspondents, they do well in the publishing arena, have a good eye for what works in advertising, and could even become an ace of a lawyer or news correspondent. There is nothing that doesn’t interest them and they will pursue their interests with utter abandon and enthusiasm. Now – that said – Gemini’s must control their tendency to take on too many interests. They can become scattered because their facile minds work so quickly, they are easily distracted, and often will begin a project with all good intentions, but are unable to follow through because something “more” interesting has caught their eye. Even in conversation with one of these delightful folks can cover several subjects within a few minutes time, and if in business – they may have to be brought back to the subject at hand more than once.

These are clever and usually happy people with no axes to grind. They will accept you at face value and include you in their inner circle of friends quite easily. An interesting fact might be that being a dual sign – they often buy things in pairs… and in their closets you may find two of a number of items. And not just things that come in pairs, but they will buy multiples of clothing items, and household items as well. It is rare to find a Gemini without a backup for the staples we need in our kitchens, but also a backup plan for most minor emergencies.

Entertaining, full of life, quirky, perhaps a bit fickle, these ever youthful people will enhance your life with joy and fun should you be lucky enough to count them among your friends or family.

Now to the lunar month ahead – although Neptune and Pluto are in Rx motion, these slow moving Planets won’t dampen the ability to move forward with plans although there might be some confusion in the mix. Two Dynamos moving into Aries –

June may turn out to be one of the most intense and changeable months this year with both Jupiter until September 8th and Uranus (off and on for the next 7 years) — both in the energetic sign Aries… These dramatic and volatile planets will be bringing us some major changes in the next few months. Of course, fiery Aries will be in the forefront of the energy that is being brought to the planetary table.

Jupiter, as has been mentioned before is the planet of good luck, expansion, the law, religion, and education. Uranus is the planet that rules the unexpected, change, Universal brotherhood, compassion for the underdog and is a mighty force that spends approximately 7 1/2 years in each sign. It is a generational planet that circles the Zodiac in 84 years — when it is in opposition to itself in our charts at the age of 42 (give or take a year) — we find dramatic happenings in our lives. Long considered a full lifetime, 84 years of age has been a bit extended with our modern medicines and life extending sciences. Still, those who have reached this landmark age of a complete Uranian cycle — are “different” in their outlook, lifestyle, and goals.

We have already been witness to the deterioration of our school systems (Jupiter) with teacher lay-offs at record highs…. The Oil Rig disaster in the Gulf is of mammoth (Jupiterian) proportion and still at this time out of control (Uranus). But what does this infusion of unstable energy mean for the average person? Well, depending where the sign Aries is in your chart there will be some changes, perhaps unexpected — like a bolt out of the blue. Remember Uranus never changes just for the sake of change, but to build back up on a firmer foundation.

If the owners of the Oil Rig off the coast of Louisiana had followed all of the protocols they should have, this disaster might have been prevented and no lives would have been lost. If towns and cities had controlled their budgets a little more carefully — we would not be laying off those people we need the most, our teachers, our firefighters, and our safety officials. We are shortchanging our children’s future because of careless and unwise decisions made in times of plenty, without forethought as to keeping a rainy-day fund for future turnabouts.

Jupiter and Uranus will bring to light the many mistakes that were made and are still being made in our day to day lives by those who should have been thinking of what was best — and instead — only thought of what “they” wanted. We will all pay the price for this shortsightedness. But with the help of these two dynamic Planets we can ferret out the perpetrators of unwise spending, ridiculous projects, and downright criminal behavior, and replace them with new people who have better ideas and stronger morality about doing the right things. It is our choice — and our right — and our duty, to take part in moving ourselves and our country in the right direction.

The Universe will be filled with fiery energy — and you can use it for your own purposes — the Mars and Pluto connection will help to keep us conscious of the burdens ahead, but also alerts us to the rewards we can expect with a little planning, and conscientious feeling for our fellowman. This month’s New Moon is on Thursday, May 13, 2010 and is in the sign Taurus at 23 degrees.  Taurus is a fixed earth sign — we can say they are determined, stubborn or just unmovable — and that can be true, but they are also steady, loyal, hard-working, sensible and goal-oriented.   Having a Taurean on your team is always a good thing as they will steadfastly move you toward your goals.   They may at times seem to be moving slowly, yet they are always making progress — You might want an Aries to begin your projects, but you will definitely want a Taurus to help you finish.  They will work doggedly and faithfully for any project they deem worthwhile and of merit.  When a Taurus signs a contract, be it business, marriage, or personal — he will keep his word — and he will follow through to the very best of his abilities.

What else does the sign Taurus rule?  Well, do you have any friends who are heavily shouldered, with sturdy necks that seem to fill a room with their presence?   They probably have some significant Taurus aspects in their charts, especially if they have a wonderful head of luxurious hair.  Taurus begins on the 20th of April and runs through to May 21st — those born on the cusps of the sign will have to seek out the time of their birth to be sure which sign was in residence when they were born.  Often those cusp folks will have some traits of the sign before or after their actual Sun sign.  We find this because the personal planets follow the Sun so closely, especially Venus and Mercury — that they will enhance one sign or the other.   Taurus also rules the arts, theater, drama, marriages, those who beautify our bodies or our homes, it rules the throat area — and it would behoove those with strong Taurus traits to take care of their throats, immediately seek help for any soreness or ache there, wear warm scarves in the cold weather, and bundle up the neck and chest areas, to avoid getting chilled.

All in all, however, Taurus is a very healthy and sturdy sign that can sustain and harbor a rigorous schedule.  They are those workers who arrive early and leave late — they have a rugged constitution that will serve them well throughout their lives, if given a little help with good nutrition and especially a good night’s rest.   On the light side, many Taureans love sweets — they have the biggest sweet tooth of the Zodiac — and since they may have a tendency to gain weight easily, this is an area they just might have to watch…  Of course — opposing this stereotype  — there are those Taurus folks who are tall and thin and ever moving …  must be picking up some of their opposite sign’s energy….  These are handsome people with magnanimous personalities — loving, giving and ready to help.  One is very lucky to know or have a friend who is a Taurus.

The good news is that Mercury Rx turned direct on May 11th in the early evening hours, meaning that our New Moon on the 13th is without this hindrance and can bring forth the earthy, vibrant energy that we look for when this aspect crests.  Yes folks, those projects put on hold, the pesky car repairs that can’t be solved, the delays in our everyday life, can now move forward, without the strain of constantly making sure we have covered every contingency that can go wrong.  Life should be a little smoother; those irritating roadblocks we have been experiencing should be slowly opening up to this new energy.  Do we go blindly into the unknown — uh — NO…  but you can and should begin to push forward those plans you might have had trouble initiating in the recent past.  Always remember one shouldn’t act on emotion alone — using head, hand and heart are a good combination when setting future plans.  But there will be more opportunity, more energy and more determination to get things going after this New Moon is upon us.

Many of us might have been revamping our budgets over the last few months — now that the New Moon and the Sun are in Taurus this is a good time to use all of our common sense and financial acumen to make a budget we can live within — to pay off those high interest credit cards — and to begin a basic savings plan that we can follow.   I am a great fan of “direct deposit” — that $10, $20 or $30 you put into your savings account will accrue — but once it is in your hand — it will merely disappear into the great vortex that is daily living.  Become aware of all of your expenses — right from the tip to the paperboy, to your daily latte — where can you cut back, economize or reconfigure your budget to become more financially stable?  Start to ask yourself, your spouse, your children — what can you live without?  Where can you find savings?  With the New Moon in this stable sign, now is the time to get your financial house in order.  If you are constantly living with debt and disorder — the stress is constant.  Free yourself now with the help of the Universal energies, and you will end the year wealthier, calmer, and more in control of your own future.

Now all of this seems very heavy and practical, but there are some lighter areas to explore — it is a good time to socialize with friends and co-workers, there is an effervescence in the ether that makes us willing to let bygones be bygones and to move forward, integrating ourselves with our fellow humans.  It is time to let go of petty annoyances and regrets — to go boldly into our future with less encumbrances — with less angst — and with less anger or irritation within our psyches.  Release yourself from any resentment you might have stored away from past, just let it GO!  You can free yourself from your past — keep your eye on your goals, make progress in baby steps and celebrate each new step.  Then go to the next step and don’t make things too onerous — be aware, be realistic, but be optimistic too!  The tide will turn, the sun will shine, and you will be ready to take your place in the winner’s circle of life….

This month’s New Moon is on April 14th at 7:29 AM EST and is in the sign Aries at 24 degrees.  This begins the New Moon cycles for the Zodiacal year ahead.   Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac is a Cardinal fire sign — and therefore has lots of energy to burn — Aries likes to be busy, and is eager for adventure.  Those born under this sign are born leaders and activists — they enjoy being embroiled in whatever current controversy is brewing.  Aries is ruled by the Planet Mars and has rulership over the head, arteries, sense of smell and it has a lot to do with how physical we are as individuals — wherever Aries is found in your chart, you might find that there is where your passion for a particular sport or exercise resides  – for instance, if Aries placement is in your 12th house, you might prefer to dance your way to a healthy body — (the 12th house rules the feet), or if Aries is found in your 5th house, you may instead be drawn to rock climbing or Zumba — you’ve just got to keep those arms and legs moving, if it is in the 6th house, you may approach good health by following a particular nutritional and exercise plan.  There are too many combinations to even begin to cover all of the possibilities — but a little knowledge of the house involved can help us to understand why a 2 year old is always twirling around, and why our 7 year old just has to run everywhere with abandon, and why our teenager can’t slow down to smell the roses, they are just too full of hormonal energy to be still.

Now to the big fly in the ointment this month… yes folks, once again Retrograde Mercury rears its head!  Now we all know this isn’t the end-all of what we have planned.  It is merely a hiccup on the road to our true pathway — Mercury goes Rx on the 17th of this month, (remaining until the 11th of May) — it will be retrograding in the sign Taurus — so it might have the effect of being more onerous to Taureans than other signs — however — we all have the sign Taurus in our charts somewhere — and that area will be more likely to be affected… For instance if Taurus is in your 10th house you might find things at work are slowing down, or that you have to redo some presentation you had just finished — in the 2nd house — you may find that check that was supposed to be in the mail has gone astray… Since we are all returning our tax returns to the IRS at this time — make sure if you are mailing a check to get a return receipt from the post office — to prove you did indeed send it in on time… As always the advice is to check, recheck and maybe look things over a third or fourth time to make sure all is in order.

When writing your affirmations or wishes this month with the New Moon in Aries you might want to think about enhancing your courage when you need to speak up for yourself — or perhaps you may wish to improve your communication skills with those closest to you so that what you are saying is clear and concise — anything you truly desire can be written down and sent into the ether to flower.  Be creative and very clear about exactly what it is you want to manifest — the more detail the better.  Take the time to choose those things that are really important to you — reach down deep into your psyche and let your affirmations spell out that which is at the top of your agenda.  The New Moon is on the 14th, at 7:29AM EST (add one hour for DST) — all day and evening are fine for writing out your dearest desires.

The Year of the Tiger begins on February 14, 2010, and it coincides with the New Moon in Aquarius.  We know that Aquarius is concerned with humanity and global issues rather than individuals.  Therefore in this Tiger year, there will be big changes for almost everyone.  Cutting edge technology will be at the forefront of many of the new issues facing us.  It will be difficult for those not comfortable with computers, cell phones, I-pods, and any of the myriad new “doo-dads” to compete or get ahead without knowledge of these areas. Make it your goal to learn as much as possible about what will be needed in your job, studies, and daily life to be successful.

Under the auspices of the Tiger there will be energy, excitement and volatility.  In some ways there will be chaos – with military coups, social changes and political disharmony.  This will be a year of change both worldwide and personally for many folks… However, it is said that a Tiger in the house protects against Fire, Thieves, and Evil Spirits.  Tigers fill our lives with energy, passion, and commitment.  Especially to their young, Tigers will face any danger, enemy, or situation with courage, bravery and strength.

Also we may encounter natural disasters that overwhelm cities, states and even countries with dire consequences.  Tigers believe in speaking up against social imbalance, and will enter into any political upheaval that may be brewing.  Beware the ire of the Tiger, politicians and any government officials may be on the Tiger’s radar screen, and if they are not performing honestly and fairly – they will be pursued and taken out of power.  The Tiger will not put up with dishonesty or falsehoods lightly, they will use their intelligence and stealth to wipe out those who would misuse and abuse their power.

On the bright side, the Tiger year will bring drama, excitement, the possibility of dreams coming true, and energy to follow through to your goals.  Remember only you are the master of your being – only you have the power to change your course to a positive and successful life.  The Tiger likes to spend freely – so be aware of leaping into debt without realizing what the consequences will be.  Indeed, a good rule of thumb in a Tiger year is to “Look” before you “Leap” — be prepared, and be aware of opportunities that will come quickly, but might not last long.  You must be ready to grasp those offerings by preparing yourself ahead of time, in your workplace, home, or school. Here is some insight for each of the 12 Chinese Zodiac Animals:

RAT – First the Rat must be aware that this is a fast-paced year which might make them a bit uneasy.  Still there are opportunities for them to travel, find new jobs and perhaps find romance.  They should not take unnecessary risks, but be aware of ways to enhance their personal savings.  The autumn months might be best for single Rats to find their soul-mates. Beware of discord in the family, hurt feelings may result from a mistimed criticism.  Do not try to go against the current, but look for opportunity around each corner, your cleverness will find a way to thrive this year.

OX – The Ox might find this too much of a changeable year and they should expect the unexpected.  This will not make the Ox happy, but if he faces the challenges with his usual stoic and stable manner, he will prevail.  The Ox must learn to adapt to the vagaries of altered routines, and perhaps delays to his careful planning. The Ox might find new work through friends, and if romantically inclined the hot summer months provide ample opportunity to meet that special someone.  The Holiday season and New Year’s celebrations also may bring new romantic interests through family.

TIGER – The Tiger will have good fortune, energy to spare, protection, and will enjoy all of the activity this year will bring.  After the difficulties and upsets of last year – renewed hope and a positive outlook will do much to keep the Tiger busy and happy.  There will be job opportunities, and his financial situation should improve greatly. However, the Tiger should adapt the “Look before you Leap” philosophy. The Tiger should let his light shine through, and he might find that a friendship has suddenly blossomed into a true romance.  Socially the Tiger will be the center of attention and will enjoy all that this year has to offer.

RABBIT — The Rabbit will find that his outlook for job improvement, perhaps in the form of a promotion will likely come this year.  However, he should try not to get too exhausted in trying to keep up with all of the busyness that is going on.  Some Rabbits might be in the market for a new place to live and there are going to be lots of opportunities for them to find their dream space.  There will be much socializing for the Rabbit this year and he might find a compatible partner through a work sponsored event.  This is a good year for the Rabbit to lay down his goals and plans for next year, which will be the Year of the Rabbit, and then he will be in his own comfort zone.

DRAGON – The Dragon will love the fast-pace of this year, and they will eagerly plunge into the fray with wings flapping and fire shooting from their mouths… To get the most from this year’s bounty, they should become team players (not always easy for a Dragon), and work to make themselves known to the upper echelon.  They should avoid spending just to make themselves feel good.  Even though money should be coming in with ease, it will be better if they monitor their finances carefully.  It also would be a good year for them to learn some new skill, that will enhance their work, or they might take up a new hobby that will give them much pleasure.  It is here they might find a companion that will enhance their life and bring them closer to their families.

SNAKE – Snakes are intelligent and intuitive, and also very attractive to the opposite sex.  The Year of the Tiger will feel out of control to them and the way they will survive is to keep a low profile, and stay calm.  Money must be managed with care, and there will be no need to worry.  Working with cohorts will help the Snake get ahead slowly and surely throughout the year.  Family and friends will be his mainstay, and the more time he spends with them, the more grounded and assured he will become.  There may be an opportunity to travel, and the Snake should look into any offer that comes his way.  The Snakes social life should pick up this year and if looking, romance will find him.

MONKEY – The Monkey with energy to spare will be able to enjoy the fast-paced Year of the Tiger. I am so excited by this months’ New Moon – not only is it in the sign Aquarius, but it also falls on Valentine’s weekend – so romance and love are definitely in the air.  Aquarius is not the most romantic sign, but they have a love of all humanity – a worldwide caring for the neediest among us.  They have big hearts and an open and honest way of declaring themselves.  If you have caught the eye (and heart) of an Aquarian, be assured you are a rare and special person – one always has to prove oneself to our Aquarian brothers and sisters.  But once enamored, they are always in your corner – and will always hold you in the highest esteem.  You have to look for the small ways in which they will show their love, it won’t be a bouquet of roses, or a box of chocolates – but rather an invitation to the latest and greatest technological venue around… or perhaps – the newest gadget to get you around town, — or even a new phone with their number already listed.  They are decidedly a different breed – idealistic, imaginative, worldly, exciting, adventurous, individualistic, and so very bright.  And so it bodes well that this Valentine’s Day will encompass many of the Aquarian interests and optimistic outlook that is so much a part of their psyche.

Venus has moved into the sign Pisces, so we are all in a warm, fuzzy, cloud of loving emotions, intense passion, and have the need for all things chocolate.  Be it a Hershey’s kiss, green M & M’s, or Godiva soft centers – get your fill – I have it on good authority – there will be absolutely NO calories in any chocolate delight you ingest during this Valentine’s celebration.  But don’t overdo it; you don’t want to be out of control on the 16^th, as Venus moves towards its conjunction with Jupiter the planet of expansion, and all good things.  There really can be too much of a good thing.

May all of you find love, caring, kindness and understanding during this weekend of Cupid.  Be bold in your loving, intense in your caring, indulge in random acts of kindness,  and understand that you hold the secrets to your happiness – in your mind, heart, and soul – only you control the quality of your life, only you can alter your path – go for the gusto – don’t be afraid to be happy, content, fulfilled and whole.  You are deserving of the very best life has to offer – let the planets be your guide – but make sure you are at the helm – there will always be rocks in your path, there will always be fierce storms to conquer, there will always be a naysayer or two, heed your own council, and manifest the life you want.  You can and will be successful if you are true to yourself – I toast everyone, with my 90% pure cocoa dark chocolate truffle – may you always find the sweetest things life has to offer…

The New Moon for January 2010 is on the 15th of the month at 2:12 AM — it is at 25 degrees of Capricorn, so all day long is just perfect for writing down your affirmations and wishes. The loving planet Venus is within orb of this New Moon, so be open to love, forgiveness, random acts of kindness, and  be aware of those in need.  There is a karmic quality to this New Moon that might begin a new cycle for many Capricorns, and those with planets in the sign Capricorn.  Check out your chart and see where Capricorn lies — each house has a special meaning — and this could give you a clue as to where your energy should be spent.

This new year has begun with many delaying aspects in the Heavens, for instance it began with a Mercury Retrograde already in place — this aspect is always a bit tumultuous because it affects communication, transportation, educational matters, publishing and many day-to-day activities.  It is always a good rule of thumb to take our time when planning trips, using our car in bad weather, depending on mass transportation, or signing up for new classes.  Just about anything can be delayed or misconstrued when we are under this aspect.  Double check plans, places to meet, and make sure your car is up to snuff for the rigors of the winter weather (keep an emergency pack in your car: flashlight, water, cell phone, blanket or extra warm coat, AAA phone #, and even jumper cables), any and all of these items just might  be needed.  And make sure your gas tank is at least half full at all times.

In addition, Mars is also in Retrograde mode — this planet is our enthusiasm, energy and passion.  When retrograde, it also hinders new projects, relationships, finding jobs, and especially any “improvement” in our physical being. All of those good intentions that we hoped would emerge in this new year are bound to see delays and conflicts.  These aspects, however, do allow us to reconsider our goals and really look into what it is we truly want for ourselves this year.  Ask yourself the difficult questions now — am I where I want to be, where do I want to be in 5, 10 or even 20 years?  Am I happy doing what I am doing?  Are my relationships fulfilling and loving?  How am I going to reach those goals that I have been striving for over the past few years?  What will make me the contented, happy person I deserve to be?  What do I have to do, get, learn, find, or develop so that I might be finally on the true pathway that will be in my best interest, and will allow me to become my highest and most spiritual self?

Also, just so we don’t get too cozy — thinking all will be well after Mercury goes direct — Saturn, the teacher of our planetary system, will also go Retrograde in the sign Libra on the 13th and it will last until May 30th – enhancing the confusion, and reminding us to stay on course.   It will be so easy to throw in the towel and go astray… but remember what you have to gain by staying on course — you will succeed, you will get to your goals, and you will become that fulfilled person you want to become.  Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn, and as such will provide us with that extra impetus to keep our focus — and we will be happier in our relationships, our jobs, and more satisfied with life in general just by keeping to the straight and narrow confines of being honorable, and of doing the right thing.

OK — now if all of that information isn’t enough — the New Moon also ushers in an eclipse — so this will be a much more impactful and longer lasting cycle.  We may find ourselves with more responsibility and we must be able to accept these new parameters whether in our jobs or in our homes.  There will be times when you feel out of control, and that’s when you must not abandon your good common sense.  Don’t give in to those riotous feelings that will spiral your life out of control… You hold the keys to your behavior and your life — hold on to them dearly — and you will be rewarded with opportunities and choices that will be better for you in the long run.   Capricorn doesn’t move swiftly — this is a slow and steady sign, and with Saturn as its ruler — you know there will be rewards, and they will be worthwhile.

The Capricorn sun will hook up with the North Node between the 5th and the 19th and this will help give us the power to be in control of our lives.  In addition, Jupiter is rapidly going through the last degrees of Aquarius connected to Neptune — this will enhance in us a deep feeling that all will be well, no matter what limiting circumstances we will have to overcome.  When Jupiter enters Pisces late on the 17th we will be imbued with a new fervor — our spirits will be uplifted, and we will be empowered to expand our universe.  We will be able to see the “Big” picture — we can push aside the petty problems that don’t add to our sense of well-being.  Our eyes will be open to new pathways — just be sure you are not wearing your rose-colored glasses — be perfectly clear in your mind as to where you are going.  If something sounds too good to be true — steer clear!  Stay true to the practical and beautiful things you know are real and worthwhile.

The New Moon is at 25 degrees of Capricorn on January 15th, at 2:12 AM.  All day is fine for writing out your affirmations and wishes, be as specific as you can — repeat your affirmations for any difficult goals you have that might take longer to manifest.  Capricorn is a practical sign — so any wishes for more control over your life, or getting organized, or perhaps returning to basics are all good.  Capricorn will help you with the patience to reach your goals, and it enhances your endurance, so you will have the strength to conquer any obstacles along your path.
