Drummers Unite! 1-10-10

   Posted by: admin    in Uncategorized

I know I have mentioned about the Drumfish circle of drummers led by Ed Runeigh.  This group meets in Fairhaven, MA and I look forward to Ed’s emails every couple of weeks letting me know about the next get together.  The Unitarian Memorial Church is a phenomenal piece of architectural history, making the acoustics awesome!  A donation of $5 is all it takes to play for hours, and all levels of musicians or would be musicians are welcome.  Ed generously supplies many variations of drums if you don’t own one – so what are you waiting for??  GO! Make music!!

In Ed’s words:

Well it’s about time.  Long, cold nights of no drum circle. Desperate hours trapped without an outlet for those deep rhythmic urges.  Take heart my fidgety, percussive friends for liberation is at hand.

Sunday, January 10th and it’s the first Drumfish circle of 2010!

Drum, shaker, rattle, bell, stick and stone, harp, flute, didge and trumpet, chant, song, dance.  All elements of a great drum circle night and a guaranteed relief from any wintery, post holiday blues that may have set in along with the cold and the snow.  (Ok, it’s really pretty and the holidays are heartwarming and all but give me June, any day)

Unitarian Memorial Church, 102 Green St, Fairhaven.  Doors open at 7 PM.   Heat should be working by 8.

Drumfish Drumming Circle ~ Fairhaven, MA

   Posted by: admin    in Uncategorized

I look forward to Ed’s monthly emails regarding his Drumfish Drumming Circle meet-ups in Fairhaven, MA.  His sense of humour absolutely puts a smile on my face every time!  This is a great group of people – be ye not intimidated – go and drum!  And if you haven’t a drum, Ed supplies quite a few that you can borrow for the evening.

Bwahahahahaaa!

At last my vile plans are coming to their wicked fruition!  On Friday night the demonic mind waves I have unleashed will begin to do their twisted work!  Everyone will soon feel the compulsion to gather somewhere and drum for hours on end!   They will be powerless to resist!  Thus distracted by the rhythmic impulse I have placed in their feeble minds, there will be no-one to stop me in my quest for world domination!     None will be left to oppose me as they waste their lives pounding out their seductive rhythms.  By the time they stop, exhausted by their foolish drumming I alone shall rule the world!!   Bwahahahahaaaa!  *evil, maniacal hand waving to go with evil, maniacal laughter*

If you’re feeling a strange, irresistable pull to come drumming with us tomorrow night, Friday October 23rd, around 7 PM at the Unitarian Memorial Church 102 Green St in Fairhaven, you might as well give in.  I have it on good authority (bwahahaha, etc.) that there’s no point in resisting.

You probably shouldn’t try to resist this collection of drum related events on Sunday either.

My Name is My Crown

   Posted by: admin    in Uncategorized

At times I receive a flash of insight on the most insignificant and smallest of gestures.

This past Friday, at the drumming circle led by the coolest guy ever, Ed Runeigh asks everyone to go around the room and introduce themselves.  When it comes to my turn I always proudly say my full name:  JONE VICTORIA.   Not Jone, always Jone Victoria.

I cannot imagine half of my name just hanging out there in the ether; “Hi, I’m Jone.”  It just sounds incomplete to me.  My name is a mantle of what my legacy will be.

I’ve waged war on demons and fought for the underdog.  I’ve raised two incredible children almost single-handedly, survived cancer and poverty.  Had an incredible career, without benefit of a college education and broke the glass ceiling.  Traveled overseas and met teachers on varying dimensions of existence.  I enjoy excellent health and have the finest of friends.  I have been blessed with intelligence and the ability to see deep within the soul of my fellow man.

All of you have a life, filled with experiences, natural born gifts of artistry and legacies that could take their rightful place on the  New York Times bestseller list.  You are a composite of all your experiences, and thoughts.  You’re a force to be reckoned with – a survivor of life’s firestorms.

Your name is a crown of glory; wear and say it proudly.
