Nancy, our resident Astrologer, keeps us up to date with what’s going on with some major planetary activity. I’m not going to muck it up – but just let Nancy’s astrological wisdom speak for itself.

So much is going on in the Heavens — but Jupiter in one sign for most of the year is always a guidepost to what is happening — this year Jupiter is in Pisces, one of the two signs it is considered to rule…. yes, Jupiter was the ruler of Pisces and Sagittarius until Neptune was discovered and assigned to the watery dual fish sign. And even today it is a co-host of Pisces because of it’s expansive, exaggerated, and elegant demeanor. Water is such a force of nature that it cannot be totally controlled, indeed we have in the past few years seen devastating floods, hurricanes, and tsunamis that defied expectation — water is sometimes a fierce destroyer, but most often it is a bountiful source of life. What can we expect from Jupiter’s watery placement this year — Let’s peruse a few highlights and low lights of what might be in store.

Jupiter entered the sign of Pisces on January 17, 2010, and will traverse this sign until June 6 when it will enter Aries for a short stay, returning to Pisces on September 8 and remaining there until January 22, 2011. Jupiter has rulership over many diverse and interesting facets of our lives — they include banking, religion, the law, physicians, politicians, sports figures, higher education, and in its highest form it propels us toward compassion, spirituality, and Universal love. We must be well aware of how we use these overwhelming qualities of Jupiter’s powers — in the watery sign of Pisces, Jupiter can and will expand our consciousness, our spirits, and our waistlines. There is with Jupiter in Pisces a feeling of good will, optimism, excitement and hope. Yet there are ominous movements in the ether that might temper all of the positive goals of this giant jolly planet.

Jupiter is working in concert with Pluto in Capricorn early in this transit — whereas Pluto may want to break down the status-quo and take our less than honest politicians out of the game, Jupiter will try to enhance our understanding of the dynamics of politics, economics, and religion — so that we might make good decisions about what to throw out and what is worthwhile keeping. This dynamic duo will uncover some of the dark and musty underhanded tricks that are going on that are keeping us uninformed or misinformed — and they will do so in a brash and no nonsense manner — many so-called icons of politics, sports and religion will be exposed as merely human — very flawed — and too greedy for themselves — be it for money, power, or sex. Be forewarned all of you who are not living up to the highest concepts of morality — you will be found out, you will be admonished and you will be shunned by your peers.

There is a balance in the Universe, and although the slimy underbelly of the beast often seems to be ahead of the game — there will be justice. Those individuals who are attempting to be honest, caring and compassionate will prevail — be it natural disaster, or man-made catastrophe — look to the promise of Jupiter — the expansive, generous and gentle giant of the galaxy to play out with compassion a course that will be of benefit to all of us — in Pisces there is a higher spirit that will take us to our greatest years as a country, as a people of good will, as members of the human race, as entities of light and energy in the continuum of life.

Pisces is a dual sign — one fish swimming downward and the other moving upwards toward the light — and so it follows that there will be turmoil in finding the true path — Pisces often is clever in its ability to keep us in a vacuum of illusion — we see what we want to see — open your eyes folks — the tide is turning and we will be changed. So many elements are coming together for us as a people and as a country that will define us for decades to come… become active in promoting the kind of world you want to live in, let there be no doubt, our lives are going to change, and we can go along for the ride or we can become a force to be reckoned with by allowing our voices to be heard. Do not allow any human to have less than they need to enjoy a worthwhile and productive life. Only when the least of our fellow humans is raised can we all feel whole. Compassion and love are the gift of this Jupiterian placement, and following its tour of Aquarius last year, this theme should be resonating with everyone. Mankind is on the brink of choosing its pathway — we might have a preview when Jupiter moves into Aries for a couple of months — Brash, flamboyant Jupiter in Aries will be a wake up call — do we really want more conflict and war — do we really want to live in a world of discrimination, poverty, and injustice? The answer is obvious — but real, positive and lasting change will not come without those people of goodwill making themselves known. It is not enough to bow down from office and complain that you can’t get anything done because no one is cooperating. If our Founding Fathers hadn’t been able to find compromise, where would we be today — indeed — as fractious as things are — we would never have achieved the heights we have without intelligent, good intentioned people seeking to compromise for the betterment of all mankind. Now it appears greed, selfishness, and immoral behavior has come to the fore, this time is over, there is a fresh burst of air and enthusiasm that is cleaning out the cobwebs of despair — will it come overnight, probably not — but within the next few years we will see revolutionary changes take place in our minds, bodies, and spirits.

OK — got a little preachy there, but I cannot emphasize enough how important this year is in readying ourselves, our country and our world for a brighter tomorrow. Since it would be difficult in this venue to try to give everyone a clue as to how Jupiter in Pisces might affect them — let me just give you some idea of how this aspect might come to fruition in each of the 12 houses. If you do not have your chart, it is easy to get one for free from several sources on the internet, and will be beneficial for understanding what follows:

Jupiter in Pisces in the 1st House — For those of you who must watch their weight — this is a time to be very aware of an expanding waistline. However, Jupiter here will give rise to new opportunities to do something you have been wanting to experience for a long time. And as a bonus, your creativity will expand as you find a new way of expressing yourself, be it art, writing or music.

Jupiter in Pisces in the 2nd House — Ah you are thinking “Is this the year I win the Lottery?” Well, probably not — but there will be chances to increase your income or find a way to save for the future. But you must be aware that you will have urges to spend beyond your means — look for creative ways to boost your income. Maybe you can recycle some of your old clothing or possessions into cash, and you’ll find your abode less cluttered and more appealing.

Jupiter in Pisces in the 3rd House — This is a jolly placement for Jupiter since it relates to close friends and relatives and can bring warmth and conviviality into your life. You might be surprised to find some interesting folks and fun right in your own neighborhood. Just be aware that you want communications to be positive and on a high note. Leave those people with “attitude” or dour outlooks at arms length — although if you think you can help them — give it a try.

Jupiter in Pisces in the 4th House — Wow, here we encounter your base — your home — your foundations. This placement can bring such benefits to your deepest desires — it can enhance your living quarters, bring contentment into your life, and make you aware of how important your upbringing was to making you the person you are today. Enjoy this golden time, work to bring more love and kindness into your life.

Jupiter in Pisces in the 5th House — The 5th house is the house of romance, children, luck, and speculation. With beneficent Jupiter here you might find an engagement ring on your finger, or that long awaited grandchild to be on his/her way. and yes, you might have a shot at the lottery if there are lots of other positive aspects in your chart… (let’s not count on it)… enjoy this placement of the good luck planet, you will find goodwill around every corner.

Jupiter in Pisces in the 6th House — Here we have the mundane house of work — so Jupiter can expand or brighten what might otherwise be a dull monotonous job. Maybe a new boss that sees your merit will come on the scene and you will benefit from their good will. Keep an eye on your health regimen, especially in the colder areas of the country — sometimes that little winter cough can expand into something more — generally Jupiter will lend a protective aura over your health and spirit.

Jupiter in Pisces in the 7th House — In the house of partnerships, both intimate and business, there can be harmony and understanding with Jupiter’s help. If there are good aspects between this house and the second, there might be some monetary good luck also. Just remember that Pisces can create illusion — so be very sure in whom you are putting your trust. This just might be the time for that second honeymoon, someplace warm and with a bright blue sea on the horizon.

Jupiter in Pisces in the 8th House — How do we handle this dynamic planet in this house — we might well be questioning our belief system and decide to become more profoundly involved in our church or temple, or mosque. Or — on the other hand you might be ready to chuck it all. Take the time to really know what it is you want or believe. Also be aware of monies shared that might be compromised, the message here is to calmly peruse your options, get all the information you can, and make an informed decision.

Jupiter in Pisces in the 9th House — Jupiter is so comfortable in this house, enhancing education, spirituality, and adventures. This might be the time to go on that longed for vacation, especially if it includes waterfront views. Just be cautious in believing all you hear — be you own advocate in any legal issues, (but be sure to find the best legal help you can) — and go for the gold! Winning is an option, and if you are prepared you will prevail.

Jupiter in Pisces in the 10th House — Are you ready to advance in your career — have you laid the groundwork so that all is at the ready? You could be finding great success in your current job, or perhaps be starting a new career with many benefits. If travel is on the agenda for work, you might find yourself in exotic places with much more responsibility. Socially you will be the golden child of any soiree. Don’t let the excitement go to your head — stay firmly grounded and you will be a winner.

Jupiter in Pisces in the 11th House — This is the house of our hopes and wishes, and friendships. You will find people willing to help you with any of your needs — you will be getting lots of invitations to parties, meetings and get-togethers, and you should attend as many as you can. Although many will be willing to help — be aware that not everyone is in a position to follow through on their promises. Enjoy the bounty Jupiter is bringing into your life.

Jupiter in Pisces in the 12th House — How powerful can Jupiter be here in the 12th house, let me count the ways — this watery realm is a comfort for expansive Jupiter. Here you can uncover the mysteries of the Universe, become encompassed by the spiritually astute, or be dragged into the depths of illusion and infamy. Your choice — be uplifted by the beauty that is within your soul and be aware of the harmony that sustains us, or become ensnarled by the bogus offers of false hopes that abound in the murky waters. Go for the light — be guided by the truth within.

Transforming, enlightening, changeable, raucous, blatant, pie-in-the-sky, hopeful, awe inspiring, compassionate, willing, giving and grateful, happy, jolly, fun times — all of these and more are Jupiter in Pisces gifts to us — choose well — the choice is yours and yours alone….

Two Dynamos moving into Aries –

June may turn out to be one of the most intense and changeable months this year with both Jupiter until September 8th and Uranus (off and on for the next 7 years) — both in the energetic sign Aries… These dramatic and volatile planets will be bringing us some major changes in the next few months. Of course, fiery Aries will be in the forefront of the energy that is being brought to the planetary table.

Jupiter, as has been mentioned before is the planet of good luck, expansion, the law, religion, and education. Uranus is the planet that rules the unexpected, change, Universal brotherhood, compassion for the underdog and is a mighty force that spends approximately 7 1/2 years in each sign. It is a generational planet that circles the Zodiac in 84 years — when it is in opposition to itself in our charts at the age of 42 (give or take a year) — we find dramatic happenings in our lives. Long considered a full lifetime, 84 years of age has been a bit extended with our modern medicines and life extending sciences. Still, those who have reached this landmark age of a complete Uranian cycle — are “different” in their outlook, lifestyle, and goals.

We have already been witness to the deterioration of our school systems (Jupiter) with teacher lay-offs at record highs…. The Oil Rig disaster in the Gulf is of mammoth (Jupiterian) proportion and still at this time out of control (Uranus). But what does this infusion of unstable energy mean for the average person? Well, depending where the sign Aries is in your chart there will be some changes, perhaps unexpected — like a bolt out of the blue. Remember Uranus never changes just for the sake of change, but to build back up on a firmer foundation.

If you have made plans to travel, (Jupiter) you might have to change your plans — or they might be changed for you (Ash from a volcano?) — If you were planning a cruise or riverboat tour anywhere near the Gulf of Mexico, you might find a change in venue or even cancellations. Thinking of staying at an East Coast resort, beware of more coastal storms involving high winds and lots of rain. But this is sounding like a disaster movie…. and there are some positive things that could really go your way.

Mars in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn (In good aspect to each other) are moderating factors that are somewhat stabilizing in their cool, proper, and feet-on-the-ground Capricornian stay. These are Planets that will work together to find solutions to our current problems and any havoc that is stirring.

Although there will be buffeting between these forces, there will be ways to offset any totally unexpected changes we might not want. Planning here is tantamount to success. If the owners of the Oil Rig off the coast of Louisiana had followed all of the protocols they should have, this disaster might have been prevented and no lives would have been lost. If towns and cities had controlled their budgets a little more carefully — we would not be laying off those people we need the most, our teachers, our firefighters, and our safety officials. We are shortchanging our children’s future because of careless and unwise decisions made in times of plenty, without forethought as to keeping a rainy-day fund for future turnabouts.

Jupiter and Uranus will bring to light the many mistakes that were made and are still being made in our day to day lives by those who should have been thinking of what was best — and instead — only thought of what “they” wanted. We will all pay the price for this shortsightedness. But with the help of these two dynamic Planets we can ferret out the perpetrators of unwise spending, ridiculous projects, and downright criminal behavior, and replace them with new people who have better ideas and stronger morality about doing the right things. It is our choice — and our right — and our duty, to take part in moving ourselves and our country in the right direction.

The Universe will be filled with fiery energy — and you can use it for your own purposes — the Mars and Pluto connection will help to keep us conscious of the burdens ahead, but also alerts us to the rewards we can expect with a little planning, and conscientious feeling for our fellowman. We must be aware of all the ramifications if we do not step up to the plate and take responsibility. The stars Foretell — but they do not Compel…

The Summer is off to a dramatic start — think only positive thoughts, use your time wisely, and prepare for a bright and sprightly few months ahead… You just might have the time of your life! Enjoy the challenges but also the rewards of our joyous Jupiter and quirky Uranus in the exciting sign of Aries…

New Moon in Capricorn ~ January 15

Posted by: admin    in Nancy's Astrology Notes

I like this post from Nancy, our resident Astrologer.  There is a calming confidence and sure-footedness, like a goat’s hooves navigating slippery rocks that I relate to when I read her words of advice.  Thank you Nancy!!  Your posts prepare me for the upcoming energies and make me feel less crazy in my head.

The New Moon for January 2010 is on the 15th of the month at 2:12 AM — it is at 25 degrees of Capricorn, so all day long is just perfect for writing down your affirmations and wishes. The loving planet Venus is within orb of this New Moon, so be open to love, forgiveness, random acts of kindness, and  be aware of those in need.  There is a karmic quality to this New Moon that might begin a new cycle for many Capricorns, and those with planets in the sign Capricorn.  Check out your chart and see where Capricorn lies — each house has a special meaning — and this could give you a clue as to where your energy should be spent.

This new year has begun with many delaying aspects in the Heavens, for instance it began with a Mercury Retrograde already in place — this aspect is always a bit tumultuous because it affects communication, transportation, educational matters, publishing and many day-to-day activities.  It is always a good rule of thumb to take our time when planning trips, using our car in bad weather, depending on mass transportation, or signing up for new classes.  Just about anything can be delayed or misconstrued when we are under this aspect.  Double check plans, places to meet, and make sure your car is up to snuff for the rigors of the winter weather (keep an emergency pack in your car: flashlight, water, cell phone, blanket or extra warm coat, AAA phone #, and even jumper cables), any and all of these items just might  be needed.  And make sure your gas tank is at least half full at all times.

In addition, Mars is also in Retrograde mode — this planet is our enthusiasm, energy and passion.  When retrograde, it also hinders new projects, relationships, finding jobs, and especially any “improvement” in our physical being. All of those good intentions that we hoped would emerge in this new year are bound to see delays and conflicts.  These aspects, however, do allow us to reconsider our goals and really look into what it is we truly want for ourselves this year.  Ask yourself the difficult questions now — am I where I want to be, where do I want to be in 5, 10 or even 20 years?  Am I happy doing what I am doing?  Are my relationships fulfilling and loving?  How am I going to reach those goals that I have been striving for over the past few years?  What will make me the contented, happy person I deserve to be?  What do I have to do, get, learn, find, or develop so that I might be finally on the true pathway that will be in my best interest, and will allow me to become my highest and most spiritual self?

Also, just so we don’t get too cozy — thinking all will be well after Mercury goes direct — Saturn, the teacher of our planetary system, will also go Retrograde in the sign Libra on the 13th and it will last until May 30th – enhancing the confusion, and reminding us to stay on course.   It will be so easy to throw in the towel and go astray… but remember what you have to gain by staying on course — you will succeed, you will get to your goals, and you will become that fulfilled person you want to become.  Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn, and as such will provide us with that extra impetus to keep our focus — and we will be happier in our relationships, our jobs, and more satisfied with life in general just by keeping to the straight and narrow confines of being honorable, and of doing the right thing.

OK — now if all of that information isn’t enough — the New Moon also ushers in an eclipse — so this will be a much more impactful and longer lasting cycle.  We may find ourselves with more responsibility and we must be able to accept these new parameters whether in our jobs or in our homes.  There will be times when you feel out of control, and that’s when you must not abandon your good common sense.  Don’t give in to those riotous feelings that will spiral your life out of control… You hold the keys to your behavior and your life — hold on to them dearly — and you will be rewarded with opportunities and choices that will be better for you in the long run.   Capricorn doesn’t move swiftly — this is a slow and steady sign, and with Saturn as its ruler — you know there will be rewards, and they will be worthwhile.

The Capricorn sun will hook up with the North Node between the 5th and the 19th and this will help give us the power to be in control of our lives.  In addition, Jupiter is rapidly going through the last degrees of Aquarius connected to Neptune — this will enhance in us a deep feeling that all will be well, no matter what limiting circumstances we will have to overcome.  When Jupiter enters Pisces late on the 17th we will be imbued with a new fervor — our spirits will be uplifted, and we will be empowered to expand our universe.  We will be able to see the “Big” picture — we can push aside the petty problems that don’t add to our sense of well-being.  Our eyes will be open to new pathways — just be sure you are not wearing your rose-colored glasses — be perfectly clear in your mind as to where you are going.  If something sounds too good to be true — steer clear!  Stay true to the practical and beautiful things you know are real and worthwhile.

The New Moon is at 25 degrees of Capricorn on January 15th, at 2:12 AM.  All day is fine for writing out your affirmations and wishes, be as specific as you can — repeat your affirmations for any difficult goals you have that might take longer to manifest.  Capricorn is a practical sign — so any wishes for more control over your life, or getting organized, or perhaps returning to basics are all good.  Capricorn will help you with the patience to reach your goals, and it enhances your endurance, so you will have the strength to conquer any obstacles along your path.

The power is in the ether — it is there for the taking – reach for the stars and you will begin to see your potential as a child of the Universe.  May this new year 2010 bring the awesome power within your spirit into the light — and may you be able to manifest your abilities, so that you will be aware of the magical being that is you.

PS.  Next month’s new Moon ushers in the Chinese New Year (sign of the Tiger) – more on that subject next month…. xo
